# 連字 Ligature

在活字時代製作連字的目的，是為了降低特定字母組合產生的視覺不適感。比如羅馬體（Roman）中，小寫的 f 後面遇到小寫 i 或小寫 l 視覺容易相互影響，因此在活字字型中通常會附有 fi、fl、ff、ffi、ffl、ſt、st 等字符；數位字型中，也會設計連字字符作為替代，使排版效果更有韻律感。在某些歐文或日文的草書數位字型中，會運用連字的功能以達到真實書寫般的效果。
